Posting Anyway

I usually use a Britta filter, or something. I've run out and am making my tea. It's almost 3 a.m, so I'm not going to the store. I have heard that boiling water (which one does to make tea anyway) can sort of purify the water.
Is this true, and if so, to what extent does boiling tap water make it more 'pure'?????
