[mick]
my best male friend wants to take me to his prom (we actually call it grad here but whatever) in june. he's in grade 12 and i'm in grade 11. i was really excited to go, but today he told me that a bunch of his friends got mad at him for wanting to take a grade 11 to prom. now we sort of don't know what to do. would you go, or just forget about it to avoid conflict? why is it such a big deal that he wants to take me?

what's the last compliment someone gave you?

if you could either only watch movies, or only watch television series for the rest of your life, which would you pick? what's your favorite movie and tv show?

That's really pathetic of his friends, honestly. If he wants to take you, you guys should go together.

Idk, I've been congratulated a lot today because I passed my test and told everyone I'm pregnant.

Movies, def.

I would go, his friends can get over it. I don't really see what the big deal is, tons of people at my grad brought kids from grade 11 and I went to a couple before I was in grade 12.

We called it grad too (canada)
well, ask your buddy. Its not his friends job to tell him who he can and cannot go to prom with. I understand if they want it to be all "graduating" people, but on the other hand, as long as your school allows it he could bring his mom for all they care. Do what YOU GUYS want, not his friends.

Obviously you need to go and go in STYLE. But you should also sabotage their grad/prom queen voting system so you can be that too.

A coworker called me a dork. I take that as a compliment any day.

UGH. NO. I have no idea.

I can not see any reason why his friends would have a problem with him taking you unless these friends are girls and they are jealous he doesn't want to go with them, maybe? He should take who he wants to prom, and everyone else should get the hell over it.

I was informed that my hair smells amazing.

Tough call. movies, I think.

Snobs, all. Go and have a great time.

My boss told me I have been doing well lately and not making mistakes. Ten minutes later, I made a mistake. Hell.

Movies.

His friends are being ridiculous and selfish. Just go and have fun! I remember in high school people would make a big thing about taking the underclassmen because senior prom is supposed to be special and some idiots would translate special to mean 12th graders only.

A lady at Target complimented my makeup.

movies, because I feel like there are a lot more movies I like than tv shows. I don't really have a favorite movie, but my favorite shows (currently, at least) are Downton Abbey and Top Chef.

I would say screw his friends and do it anyway. Well actually, I personally would get nervous and avoid conflict, but YOU should screw his friends and do it anyway :)
My boyfriend told me that I looked beautiful today.
I would watch films, I think. My favourite film is Amadeus and my favourite television programme is Monty Python's Flying Circus.

I remember a huge backlash in my graduating class when younger grades attended our grad. It was a big deal up until the day of the grad when everyone was actually there. Then it was pretty much whatever, we're here to have fun etc. So go. It really won't be a big deal when you're actually there.

How did he seem when he told you what his jerk friends said? If he seemed like he wanted to take you anyway, then go. If he seemed like he was trying to get out of it because of his friends, then make it easy on both of you and don't go, and also cool off the friendship a bit because in that case he's a jerk too.

Actually, scrap that. Do whatever makes YOU feel the best, and remember that you get to invite whomever you want next year.

It's his night and he wants to spend it with you, so go. To hell with his friends, where will they be in 10 years? I still remember my school formal (grad/prom) 15 years down the track and I'd be annoyed if I'd caved to peer pressure. Have a great night, both of you.

His friends are being immature dicks, so who the fuck cares about their opinions on the subject. Go and have fun with your best friend.

My partner said he liked my hair yesterday.

TV series, no question. My favorite movie is probably Grosse Pointe Blank, and my favorite TV show is definitely Black Books.

I'd tell him to grow a spine.

I got a compliment on my nails last week. Woo! This is cool to me since doing my nails is a new thing in life.

I could not make that decision.

Sounds like he needs to get new friends. Go, be happy.

Eh... That I make a good LJ friend? Heh.

Probably movies. I couldn't possibly begin to narrow down a favorite for either...

Sure, go with him!

Someone told me today that I was pretty and very sweet. I was ridiculously flattered.

Oh, probably only TV shows. I find it easier to watch TV, probably because they're shorter. My favorite movie is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and my favorite book is A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

that's pretty silly of him! if you're still interested in going with him, i would tell him he needs to stop letting his friends dictate what's a "cool" thing to do. or try to find someone else to take to prom, tbh.

my S.O. told me i was very generous today.

i'd probably go with TV because of my short attention span, and i could have a lot of variety.

i don't really have a favorite movie, but my favorite TV show has got to be "arrested development".

I would say just go if you want to, who cares what people think? I think it sounds really sweet and fun, I miss high school sometimes haha.

I've been complimented a lot on my clothes lately.

TV shows. My favorite movie is probably Titanic or Moulin Rouge. Favorite TV shows are Greek, Gilmore Girls, Everwood, Survivor.

1. no answer

2. "I think very highly of you."

3. Movies.

4. Too many good movies (LOTRs, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, Fight Club, Donnie Darko, The Godfather. I could go on). TV show: off air: LOST, on air: The Big Bang Theory, which is the only tv show I watch.

I'd ask him why he's letting his friends affect his so much. I'd be pissed if he was that swayed by them. Let them be pissed. Are you sure they're actually pissed or are they just teasing him? If they're genuinely angry, they're way too involved in his life and that's the stupidest thing ever..

That I looked really cute topless with my hair in braids.

Probably television series. Me, no one one favorite of either. Let's say The Princess Bride and currently The Walking Dead.

Go with him - it's allowed, isn't it? There may not be any seniors that he's interested in, and wouldn't he rather spend the time with someone he likes?

"You have good handwriting"

Movies, which is what I gravitate towards anyway. The storyline is wrapped up in 3 hours, and you don't have to deal with incomplete storylines when your favorite TV show is canceled prematurely.

His friends are just being typical teen boys that don't want any sort of thing that ANYONE might be able to classify as uncool. Ignore them, they'll (hopefully) grow up and grow a pair eventually. ;)

Just go! I took my younger boyfriend and nobody cared. Ignore his friends and have a great time. :)

I don't even remember ATM.

Tv series definitely. I don't know if I can pick a favourite movie...favourite tv series is quantum leap.
