I have tried to write this 3 times before I gave up and chose to be clear and consise (as best i can!)
My Mum and I have always been close as I am an only child in a single parent family. She has alzheimers and it can be quite bad at times which is very scary.
We used to watch Freddie Mercury on TV all the time and its thanks to my Mum that I became fascinated with the man. At the end of the Those Were The Days of Our Lives video, Every single time,q w23 Mum would whisper alongside Freddie 'I still love you' and it would really annoy me and now I miss it so so so so so much. So my recent tattoo idea is for to have Mums handwriting down my arm, reading 'i still love you' In her own writing. #
What is a meaningful tattoo you have or plan to get sooner or later?
I'm so sorry about your mother that must be very hard for you to deal with especially that you're her only child and it must be a huge burden. I really wish you good luck in dealing with it <3 I have a hand of fatima tattoo between my shoulder blades and I'm planning to get a small Africa map (I lived there for 12 years) on my wrist and many others. I really like the idea of tattoos.. And I think it's great that you are celebrating your memories with your mum in your tattoo :)
Thank you :) I'm so thankful for coming up with the idea before its too late. She doesn't remember much but she's generally in good spirits rather than being very teaful and weepy so that makes a massive difference :) It ties in well that we both lovr Freddie, we love the song and it will be a bittersweet memory we hold together.Thank you :) She doesn't remember much but she's generally in good spirits rather than being very teaful and weepy so that makes a massive difference :)
I have a tattoo on my side that is cherry blossom style but I chose lilacs for the flowers instead. It's for my Poppy, he was an avid gardener and planted lilacs at his house where I live as a toddler, as well as at my childhood home.
I'm also planning on getting the initials "DB." I just can't figure out a way to make them not just look like a couple letters stamped on me! I'm not creative enough. It's for my aunt and my family. My aunt passed away from cancer recently and they are her initials, but my Nan also did me a favour and named all her kids D names so it would be for my mom & her siblings all at once. Just have to figure out the concept. I'd also like to get a daisy somewhere specifically for my Aunt, they were her favourite flowers.
aaaand I have another couple ideas waiting to get an appointment for, I'm getting a literary tattoo on my shoulder and I want to get a venus symbol on my forearm.
The words "I'm not proud... or tired" from Alice's Restaurant. It's a long story about WHY but it's fitting. I just have to find a way to work it in to something to make it not just words. I am not personally a fan of quotation only tattoos.
Also a chubby little watercolor sparrow sitting on a branch. When I was pregnant with my son I used to refer to him as the little bird, which we still do to this day, and there was this very nice song "Sparrow" by Scattered Trees that I was caught listening to all the time, and while I think it's meant to be about a lover I think some of the lines to the song can easily be about the love of your child. Plus my son was born in August and they sing about the "Sweet summer sparrow".
i'm going to have my dog's paw print put on me somewhere ... but that's the conundrum. i know that someday i'll want my cats' prints (and presumably other pets i have over the years) done as well, so i want to choose a spot where i'll be able to add them together. the only part of my body that seems to fit that description is my back, but i'm hesitant to do that because obviously, i won't be able to see them. so i'm sort of hanging in limbo while i wait for a great idea to come to me.
First off, I'm really sorry about your mum :( my nan has dementia and its horrible :(.
I have a tattoo of my mums favourite flower (yellow rose) along with a silhouette of a mother holding her daughter on my left foot- my mum has leukaemia so I wanted to get something for her. I have other tattoos but that's the one with the most meaning/most special one to me.
I am currently planning out a tattoo that incorporates the names of characters of books I love into a big floral piece. Like, Harry Potter would be represented by a lily, The City of Ember by poppies, etc.
