[pirahan]

How would you react if a friend or family member used your email address to submit a chance to win something?

I just found out my friend used my email to win something (she used her own too). It really bothers me. I feel like it is the same as giving my phone number to a stranger.

Well, if they won using my email that means I actually won! WOOP!

But yeah, that's not cool.

It was to win a pizza from Papa John's so either way I lose lol.

It would annoy me because I hate being inundated with spam emails, which is always what happens when you go in those comps!

If they won, I'd make them give me part of it since they used my e-mail address.

I'd be mildly irritated, but I get a ton of junk mail and would never know

I'd yell! Then get their email and sign them up for inspirational messages.

Whatever they won is mine now. I doubt they'll be doing that again in the future.

Without asking me first...I would be mildly-moderately annoyed and would not alert them if they won.

If they asked, I would let them though.

I'd be annoyed if they didn't tell me they were using my email. If i was told before hand, I wouldn't mind.

I wouldn't care if it was something they knew I was interested in. I've entered my sister in contests before as kids and she won an easter basket, so... I think its ok to spread the wealth.

if it's my sister, fine no big deal we do that to each other sometimes. Anyone else though, I'd be a little irritated. Mostly because that means i'm probably going to get more spam. Also, if I win it, they better believe they are not getting the entire prize for themselves. Consequence of using someone's information without permission.

My Mom sort of did this to me once. She thought she was doing me favor by entering me into some prize thing, except she didn't unclick some magazine subscription thing and I kept getting a magazine every month and was like "WTF", then I received a bill for it, which I refused to pay because I didn't sign up for it!

I would be really, really pissed. I have a personal e-mail and a commercial e-mail. I never want a business to have my personal e-mail address and I don't give the commercial one out to my friends.

That means she would have given out information that I have worked hard to keep private. If she had asked my permission I would have said no. But she didn't eve give me the courtesy of asking. I would be really mad.

If she wasn't a close friend, I would ditch her. She has boundary issues. If she was a close friend, we would have a serious talk.

It pisses me off just thinking that someone would do that.

Hmm, if it was my family I'd be ok but I'd let them know to ask me next time, if it was a friend Id be annoyed they didn't ask me first. I'd be like "how did you even know my email??" Haha, double standards!
I wouldn't want to get all the crappy spam mail, because I now have the mail linked to my phone, so it would ding every time something new came into my mail box, yeah I'd be annoyed!

My sister did that and I was livid. I have a personal email address that I don't want associated with my name, and she used that one. Ugh the spam afterward too!

If it was my best friend, I wouldn't care. I'd laugh that she hadn't asked me. If it was my sister, I'd laugh and I wouldn't care, again.
If it wasn't my BFF and was someone who I'm not particularly close with, I'd be annoyed.

I'd be annoyed too, especially if it were a friend and not family. Also, if my email won, I'd probably keep the prize lol.

Did she win? Make her give you the damn prize!

I've occasionally signed my mum up for things using her email/details but only when it's something I know particularly interests her and she won't be able to get to a computer and do herself.
I'd never sign anyone up for something that I just want to win or get dodgy extra entries to, geez. Why didn't she just create another gmail account?

I'd be pissed if someone did it to me too.

My win!! If they won I'd ask for half or refuse to cooperate ((just because them doing this is just so fucked up and pointless).

I'd be irritated and that's just stupid since you can spoof as many accounts as you want. I'd be extra irritated since I purposely don't use my main email for this kind of thing and they've just gone ahead and opened me up to all that spam and junk mail.

I flat out told my father if he ever enters my email address, address, or phone number on any internet site ever again I'd make sure his email will be flooded with spam from then on and forever more. I was SO furiousl I had to abandon that address for a long time because it was flooded.

He didn't understand what the fuss was about but so far hasn't done it any more. He went to do other stupid things on the net.

To your friend, I'd make it crystal clear if that email address wins, you'll collect the price and won't share. That should put an end to it.
