So instead of him texting (dangerous) you call him? (even more dangerous)
I forgot speakerphone doesn't exist!! Neither do headsets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please be more responsible.
I don't text or call. Too distracting.
I have done it at stop lights but I know that is even bad. There is nothing that is so important that it can't wait until you at least pull over. A coworker got dark tint on his windows so police can't see him texting. This is also a guy that uses a handicap pass that is not his to park in those designated spaces and is proud that he got his car up to 120+ mph on the interstate with friends in the car. He's young (22) but he still gets a ton of grief from me and other coworkers about it. He doesn't care though.
only when I'm at a stop light.
I wouldn't do either. I get just as distracted when I'm on the phone and walking; I can't imagine what I'd be like when I'm driving.
Absolutely not. It's actually against the law here, but I still see people do it. A few months ago I was behind a woman who was texting while driving, she was just not paying attention to what was going on (not doing the speed limit at points, then going over the speed limit, swerving, stopping randomly for no reason, etc). Eventually I watched her rear end a car (hard) stopped at a red light. I honestly think cell phones while driving should only be allowed if they are hand free.
I don't. And I don't talk on my phone unless I'm on long stretches or road/highway where there's little traffic and I know I won't have to stop or slow down much. I drive a stick shift. That's enough to be concentrating on when I drive. I don't need to add phones to the mix.
I will read a text message if I'm stopped at a light, but I would never try typing one.
I don't text or talk on the phone while driving, I don't have a headset or Bluetooth and I need both of my hands to drive. Unless I need it for navigation (in which case it goes in the cupholder which amplifies the sound) it's in my purse and completely ignored until I'm out of the car.
I used to at lights and such sometimes but I got in a bad accident and totaled my car in December. The accident had nothing to do with texting but I am still nervous and much more careful when in the car now. So I would never anymore.
i don't drive but unless someone's dying or about to give birth, i can't even begin to wrap my head around why people can't wait until they park the car to even check their texts, let alone send one.
fuck no. i don't talk on the phone either. i hate it when my sister does and refuses to stop. i avoid riding with her now. too bad she does it with her kids in the car.
No. It can wait until I get to where I'm going. If I'm waiting on an urgent call or text and get one while I'm driving, I may pull into the next parking lot and take a look at what just came in, but if the car isn't parked, the phone stays in my purse.
I don't even talk on my phone while driving, except through the hands free car phone.
Modern drivers are lulled into thinking that driving doesn't require our full attention thanks to all of the bells and whistles such as an onboard computer doing for us things like shifting gears, traction control, cruise control, computer assisted braking, etc. Being as I learned to drive with a car that was manual Everything (manual transmission, manual choke, manual cooling, no power steering or brakes, etc) I learned to pay Very Close attention at all times to all systems and my surroundings.
My daughter will also be learning to drive in a similar car for the same reasons.
I don't drive. I try not to text or call my boyfriend if he is driving and I ask him not to text or answer calls when I'm in the car.
Never. I think people who do are really fucking stupid.
I don't exactly "text" while driving, but when I'm stopped and I'm using my GPS I will text in the address I need....which is just as dangerous :/
(Why not get it up before I start driving? Island sometimes has shotty connection and I need to drive around a bit before I can get it to load everything up...major suckage)
Yes I'm guilty of doing that
I did today when I was stuck in awful traffic and needed directions around it.
I do when the traffic is stopped. I also check facebook, email, and google things. But if a stoplight is 4 minutes I don't really see the harm. I neevr do it while the car is moving.
