I asked my tattoo artist about this when a girl I know wanted one...she advised against it because they fade really bad really fast.
Yeah, this is what I've heard as well. Plus, perhaps because of the not-so-smooth nature of mouth skin, they've looked terrible in every picture I've seen of them.
But I don't see why they'd be unsafe.
Hmm, that's a good point. I saw someone with a really cool one that she had had for years, which is what sparked my interest. That's probably quite a rarity though.
My assumption would be no they're not safe orally speaking, just based on the idea of poking tiny needles into your skin to inject a foreign substance, ink. But (like piercings) as long as your body doesn't reject the ink & you keep it clean & allow it to properly heal, should be fine, I assume?
What tattoo do u want?
My fiancee's name (I'm aware people might have an opinion about this, but it's not a place anyone can see it, I know he would absolutely love it and find it hilarious, and if we did break up a tattoo nobody can see would be the least of my worries because we share a house/a car/and all of our finances and I'd be utterly traumatized)
my best friend and her closest man friend got matching ones in their lips. his faded really fast but hers was a bit lower so not pressing on her teeth and has lasted quite well, you can still read it. she said it didn't hurt and healed fast.
I have a tattoo it is a cherry blossom type branch up my side with lilacs instead of cherry blossom flowers.
Yes, I know a girl that has the word "cunt" on her inner lower lip. I think it looks really trashy. The tattoo has worn out very quickly and now looks more like "unt"
I know a girl with the exact same thing on hers. Ew.
LOL! I would forever nickname her, "unt".
my friend has one on his upper and lower, i watched him get the lower one done.
this was a couple years ago and he has healed fine. he screamed during it but he screams through all his tattoos because needles freak him out.
i have no tattoos but have been constantly considering it for forever
My tattoo artist became almost a family friend after he did my mom's ink a few years ago, so I asked him about basically every "odd" ink I could think abour, including the one on the mouth; he said he didn't do it, but if I ever wanted to he would recommend me someone who he trusted to do it; but he advice against it, said it wasn't worth the pain nor the money; that it'll be fuzzy and odd and then just go away completely. He said it was safe if your body was used to ink and that he never heard or read about anyone having issues with them, but that he just find them pointless.
I have 3 tattoos, all words, in the 3 languages I speak: English at the back of my knee (the first one, it's a song), Latin at my hipbone (second, one of the commons sayings) and a quote from Frida Kahlo in Spanish at my back.
My friend has one. No one ever sees it or knows about it, it looks really ugly because of placement and she even forgets about it pretty regularly. Seems like a waste of money.
I've only seen them in pictures, and possibly on tv. I'd guess they would fade pretty fast. I bet my tattoo-covered friend would get one. hmm...
I have two; a snail on my right foot, and Celes of FF6 on my upper right arm.
From what I've heard, they're considered temporary because eventually they almost completely fade.
I have nine tattoos
i'm enjoying reading your blog.. you have good quilt tutorials up here.. i might have to make the chevron one for myself!
Thanks. :) I gave up on the blog awhile ago as you can see, but you're welcome to what's already posted!
Hah! I also have a tattoo in the High Speech. Mine is "I forgive."
My friend has one of a wave. She got it a long time ago and it still looks good.
My friend and her husband have "fuck" tattoo'd there. It seemed like an alright experience for them.
I have six tattoos all over my body. I'm just about to get my seventh which will be an elephant on my right thigh :3 I'm super excited about it.
I've never understood the point in having a tattoo there, unless it's for personal reasons, or something symbolic. I just couldn't imagine the healing time for that area. Ouch.
I have one on my wrist. It's a star.
They fade too fast for me to even consider it.
I do know a girl with 'cunt' on hers, though.
I have a crown on my left ankle and a star with the infinity and gemini symbols crossed to make an H.
The star in on my right bicep, forgot to add that.
I know a couple of people who got inside-the-lip tats. They didn't have any problems safety or discomfort-wise.
I have one on my lip. I'm not dead yet
Btw it didn't hurt, it's a long word, it's still eligible, and I've had it for three and a half yrs
