So, tqc, my car insurance just jumped up to $350 a month due to my family's medical history. *fustrated huff* That's more then my car payment for goodness sake! Argh.

What do you pay for your car insurance?

ETA: What state do you live in? I'm in MI, so...

680 ever 6 months....so about 113 a month. That's high compared to other people I know, but I got a ticket three of four years ago.

That seems about right for Florida. You guys are crazy the way you drive.

My friends is about 200 lower every six months...the difference is that damn ticket. But yes the old people in Florida make it a dangerous state to live in/drive in.

Oh god...Florida insurance is why I didn't even bother to get a license when I lived there. I didn't get my license until I was 19 because there was no way I could pay for the insurance on my McDonald's paycheck.

I never heard of car insurance jumping up like that over medical history. Is it due to epilepsy or something?

I only pay $460 every six months. It feels good to live in New York again. When I lived in Arizona I was paying $650. :(

Personally I would shop around. How old are you? I know before I was 25 car insurance in Arizona was $1500 every six months. It was so hard to pay that when I was younger.

20, female. I drive a 2012 Ford Feista, so I know the car adds to it but I have terrible luck with used cars.

That sounds crazy. Because your DAD has had problems, they consider YOU a risk? Which company does that? I didn't realize medical history was required when signing up for car insurance. Was this volunteered information? Can you try another company?

I pay $97 a month. I need to call and go over my insurance with my rep, I could probably save some money since I haven't had a ticket or wreck in over 5 years.

I've never heard of that either. I'd be shopping around for a different company if that happened.

Mine's added onto my Mom's husband's policy and is $20 a month for full coverage.

Tn. 25. Female. Red Mustang GT Convertable.

Before being 25 I was using All State and full coverage. 6 months ran me $650.
Now I am with Progressive and you can choose the amount/type/options of coverage of insurance you want.
For 6 months full coverage I pay $380.

Egads. Maybe you need to shop for your own plan separate from your parents??

I pay $94/month in the upper midwest for three vehicles ('99 Tahoe, '04 Rio, and a stored '01 Sebring) and two drivers (both of us older than 25).

Holy moly! That is insane.
I just bought a new car on the 31st and before that, I paid ~$200 every 6 months for liability only. With my new car, full-coverage is ~$500 every 6 months. I live in Kansas.

Just about $121 a month, but I pay every 6 months, and that's just for liability! BS. I live in Washington.

22 f living in California, and I'm only paying 48 a month. Of course its bare minimum coverage, and my car is only worth about a grand. So that helps... and I drive less than 5000miles a year, am a good student, don't smoke, yadda yadda.

I think it's $184 every month. We have full coverage on our newest car which pushes it up a bit. (But having a deer run into my car the other day causing quite a bit of damage makes me very happy we're paying for that coverage.) But mostly it's because my husband has a lead foot and there are so many speeding tickets it's ridiculous. I live in NC which apparently has a law that says Progressive is not allowed to show us competing rates. Which isn't a big deal because we are paying SOO much less than we were paying with Allstate. (When I left Allstate, the lady didn't even ask me why. She just asked if she could contact when the rates weren't so high. I guess everyone was doing a mass exodus.)

We're at $420 every six months for both our vehicles. What medical history could be relevant to car insurance? How would they even obtain that info?

i pay 1100 for full coverage a year in nj which is notorious for high car insurance. i usually have the cheapest car insurance (for full coverage) of anyone i know. but i also drive a car from 1997 so that factors in.
