My son gave blood for the first time this week. He's 16. We had a blizzard a couple of weeks ago and the local Red Cross is low on blood because of that, so my husband decided it was time for the kid to get started (my husband is a big-time blood donor already).
How old were you the first time you gave blood?
ETA: My son had already expressed an interest in giving blood on more than one occasion but he was not yet old enough. His father and I did not MAKE him go--it was just a really good time to go, because it's winter break and the Red Cross needed donors.
