Hopefully someone here can help. I bought a kit for this friendship bracelet (printable one with pictures here), and I'm a bit confused about the first part. If I measure it 3" and knot it, it gives me barely any room to actually work with. And if you scroll down a bit, there are suddenly 3 strands. It's probably really easy and I'm just brain dead, but holy hell I'm confused.

I'd go to the actual store, except it's about 3 hours away.
