I am so jealous of all of this!
my friend was on an episode of House Hunters on HGTV.
no, but I am determined to go see a taping of Ellen one of these days!
I've heard House Hunters is fake. True/false?
I filmed half of an episode of HH International.
Not fake, partially recreated when need be. They were trying to get their visas in line to go with us real time on our chinese apartment hunt but they weren't going to be able to make it so they were going to be there a month an a half later and recreate it, though. They hooked us up with our super cool real estate guy as well, thank god because i have NO idea how we would have found a place without him!!
fake. My friend had already purchased a house before they had filmed so they set up some "showings" to make it look like they hadn't bought the house yet. They also told my friend and her husband to bicker about certain things.
A girl who used to work for me was a semi-finalist on an early cycle of ANTM. She made some comment about riding the short bus to school and was pretty much never seen again.
My uncle made an appearance on one of those real housewife shows. He's been working as the limo driver for one for a long time. I think it was the one whose husband killed himself.
No, but I know this girl
. She was on Ricki Lake too.
ETA: I do know a girl who just started filming for next season of The Voice AND I know a guy whose family won $10,000 on AFV.Edited at 2012-12-09 03:08 am (UTC)
Do you know what the guy who won the $10,000's family won it for (like what video they sent in)?
Yeah, it just aired last month, I think the video was called A Surprise for Grandma or something. It's the Miller family. Right after that he did World's Toughest Mudder.
i was friends with this girl when she taped her appearance on who wants to be a millionaire. she didnt tell anyone how she did before this aired.
EDIT: i dont know why the video wont embed. Here
is the link.
no, but ive always wanted to be in the audience for maury.Edited at 2012-12-09 03:01 am (UTC)
the sheriff in my hs was on Parental Control. And yes, her daughter took one of her parents' choices and ditch her bf haha.
I've been to a Jimmy Kimmel Live taping, but it was the concert part. If I wasn't so lazy I would go to more since 1iota.com is addicting.
Also my friend got tickets to this year's VMAs but he had to work so we couldnt go :(
are you from orange county? a bunch of ppl i went to school with were on that show, it looked like they only did casting in that area.
Not the OC, but from SoCal
My little sister's youtube video was on "babies vs puppies" this Summer. After that aired it got so many hits in a short amount of time that youtube decided that my Mom apparently stole the video and banned her youtube account.
Whaaaaat? That's crazy. How would they have had any reason to assume that was the case just because it got so many hits? :|
in the early nineties, I was in the audience for a taping of America's Funniest People. They used to give those who were stationed for Navy training in Orlando free passes to see shows as long as we were in uniform. It was boring and long. And boring. AND LONG. Had The Other Uncle from Full House and that one chick, Tawnie Kitane(?). Something like that. Meh.
I was in the audience for SNL once.
Had to spend 24 hours outside in May for it at 17. It was cold and fun (did it with a bunch of fan friends i met on LJ, actually, back in the day...). Lindsay Lohan hosted (her mom came off as a super bitch when i saw her in the hall) and Coldplay sang perfectly with laryngytis. That's about it...
a bunch of kids i went to school with were on Parental Control. They mustve done casting in the area
Someone I went to high school with just recently won $100k on WWTBAM.
A girl I know was on Judge Judy and got her ass reamed, lol. :D
stephen colbert taped for a week at my college several years ago and i was an "intern" for the week, so i got to see the shows/rehearsals/etc and help out (mostly running for props and setting up for on campus interviews and stuff like that). it was awesome and stephen was SUPER SUPER nice, and we got wrist-strong bracelets and t-shirts :p
A guy I know was on Elimidate
I used to go to TV show tapings a lot when I lived in LA, I've been to:
the old Bill Maher show he had in the 90s
Let's Make a Deal
I'm sure there is one more but I can't remember, too many drugs. Anyway, TV show tapings are long and sitcoms can take forever. Home Improvement was the most disciplined. The Newsradio I saw was the one with David Cross in it and there were a lot of physical stunts for Andy Dick so it took an insanely long time to shoot, maybe 7 hours.
I also was in Oliver Stone's movie The Doors as an extra when I was 16. I ended up meeting Oliver Stone (I was trying to sneak up to meet Val Kilmer) and talking with him for about 5 minutes about the Kennedy Assassination. It was a really great moment for me as a teen.

I also have gone to So You Think You Can Dance. I knew there was another one!
That one was crazy because before they let you into the theater, they lined you up on four benches, based on how hot you were. Really hot people got the first bench, ok people got the 2nd bench, sort of fat/old/ugly got the 3rd bench (that was my bench) and the last bench was for really fat/old/ugly people. All of the front bench people were the ones on camera in the audience.
I went to Jay Leno this year. The guests were Adam Levine, Ziggy Marley and Richard Engel.
Jay was SO NICE, he came out before it started and took questions from people. Some lady was acting crazy and he just went with it.
Adam Levine was a super babe, but SO SWEATY. It was fun.
I knew some people on Canadian Idol, a guy I knew from HS has actually done pretty well post CDN idol actually.. but none of the ones I was actually friends with went anywhere haha.
a guy i went to school with was on beauty and the geek!! idk if you guys have that, a bunch of pretty girls and a bunch of nerds learn how to interact with each other and about their professions etc so that the geeks take tests on things like hairstyling and the girls make model rockets etc.
yep! a comedy panel show, you just call up and if you were one of the first 200 or whatever you got tickets for free, just caught the train there, was very good and funny and true to what they showed, no gifts. only thing they said was 'hey guys if you think it's funny laugh because warm smiles don't translate on TV' lol
I really rather enjoyed "Beauty and the Geek" when I watched it. :)
I had a sorority sister on House Hunters and I've knows a few people on Say Yes to the Dress.
I was at an episode of TRL in 2001. The Foo Fighters were there. We got tickets because I was standing in Times Square looking annoyed and someone came up to me and gave them to me. Carson Daly didn't talk to anyone during the show. He disappeared during every commercial break. Suchin Pak or whatever her name was was a bitch and was clearly not interested in anyone. Also, they moved around the audience so only the better looking people would end up on camera.
When my sister was in college, she and her basketball team were out in...L.A. I think for a basketball game I believe. They ended up going to The Price is Right. One of the teammates who was my sister's friend at the time was chosen to go up. I THINK she won a TV or VCR or -something- like that and there was this big argument about who should get it or something? I dunno, I honestly can't remember the story. There was just some sort of issue with it that made my sister not be friends with her any more really.
