[oohscranton]
I am planning on buying all of my holiday gifts from small businesses that make homemade items - can you please link me to some of your favorite etsy stores/small business websites? Doesnt matter what they sell.

eta: shoot, sorry. I didn't check before posting again. :/ I thought my last post was awhile ago!

Do you have any Farmers' Markets in your area? The ones around here have tons of stuff like that

There's a little thing at the bottom of the Etsy.com home page, and it just constantly refreshes with new things added. I click and click and click and I always find new awesome shops that way! :)

This might not be exactly what you have in mind, but a friend of mine who's a struggling writer and photographer just self-published his first kids' book, which has been getting rave reviews. If you've got any kids on your list who like hummingbirds, to go http://naturography.com for the ebook, or look up "Growing up Humming" on Amazon. If your goal is to support struggling artists rather than Walmart executives, a few extra book purchases could really help him pay the rent.

If it wasn't an e-book I'd buy that!

My items aren't homemade (they're vintage), but I'm a small business!

Also I can't recommend this homemade small business enough. I'm giving about 6 or 7 slippers as Christmas presents this year and own two of my own: http://www.etsy.com/shop/grammalea?ref=shop_sugg

Someone mentioned farmer's market's and I agree with the go local thing! There are dozen's of craft fairs this time of year, advertised at schools and churches and whatever else. Check some out! Even if it looks like a particular one might be too "grandma-ish" in a bad way at first glance, still take a wander--there are still gems. I often shop them just for the one-of-a-kind aspect (far less worry you're buying your loved one a duplicate!) but the local and environmental impact is good, too.

I've been out of town and offline, so this is late but it is your warning for a rule break, and please be more careful down the road.
