an offshoot of saloonperfume's question--are there any (non-song) videos that make you tear up and/or cry?

mine has to be a lot of the "troops surprise their families" videos. this is the first one i ever saw, and it made me realize there are a ton of them out there:

(edited in LJ-cut cuz it didn't take the first time....oy. apologies if it caused anyone issues!)

tell me about it. the one where the military mom was snuck into the mall to see her two small boys when they went to see Santa just about killed me.

no, but I do like those, and videos of dogs seeing their owners come back home make my heart clench up

THIS. Dog/person interactions are somehow infinitely more cry-inducing than person/person reactions, to me.

There was one on Jezebel a while ago about firefighters rescuing dogs that made me tear up.

before i even read your answer, I was gonna say "troops coming home/surprising the family" videos. EVERY TIME.

This video does it every time.

This football story about a community supporting the opposing team does it too. (This description sounds pretty dry. Go read the story.)

And there's Todd Heisler's Pulitizer Prize-winning photo series, which includes this heart-wrenching photo of a Marine's pregnant wife sleeping by her dead husband's coffin.

I'm sure there are others, but these are enough for now.

I remember seeing this and it was so heartbreaking and still is. There is another video of a dog laying by his master's coffin during the service and I cried at that one as well.

Happier ones just make me smile and I love to see the surprize when a soldier shows up unannounced.

Those pictures of Katherine Cathey are in a really touching book about Major Steve Beck, and his job informing familes of their losses and guiding them through the funeral.

SPCA commercials/videos. They make me cry to the point where my SO changed the channel the moment they begin.

The free hugs campaign videos make me tear up as well:
